As combinations go, it’s not an obvious one. But Elephant Gin is more than just the obvious choice.</p> <p>The founders were inspired to create Elephant Gin following their own adventures in Africa.With a vision to conserve the wildlife they feel so passionately for they decided to launch a product that would help conservation trusts.They strongly believe that this generation has a responsibility to support the African wildlife today, so others can continue to enjoy it in the future.With every bottle sold, Elephant Gin contributes 15% to two foundations that are devoted to the conservation of wildlife in Africa.</p> <p>Up until 2017, employs over 280 rangers protecting two million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem of East Africa (just north of Mount Kilimanjaro) through innovative conservation strategies that address the greatest threats while – at the same time – satisfying the economic interests of the resident Maasai people in ways that improve the quality of life for the entire community.</p> </div> <p><strong>Anti-Poaching Ranger support</strong></p> <p>With the funds, Elephant Gin has been supporting Big Life Foundation’s Ranger Club, contributing to twelve rangers’ salaries, rations and equipments such as tents, rucksacks, sleeping bags and mosquito nets.The rangers work is crucial in anti-poaching activities in Kenya and Tansania.</p> <p>The red dots on the map show the different has been supporting Space For Elephants Foundation.</p> <p><strong>School and Employment projects</strong></p> <p>Unemployment is rife in that area and attractive for poachers to getting information and assistance from local communities. The strategy of the project is to get the communities involved by creating employment opportunities to make them aware of the value of wildlife by educating and showing them how to earn a living from the wildlife. Elephant Gin has built a school, built hiking trails, viewing points, camp facilities overlooking the Pongola Game Reserve, and are planning much more to offer employment opportunities and attract more tourists to the area.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="page" title="Page 10"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p><strong>Addressing the Space Issue</strong></p> <p>In 2016, we participated in the efforts of saving 69 elephants by negotiating the removal of a fence between Pongola Game Reserve and Swaziland Reserve (two big reserves of 15,000-25,000 hectares of wildlife each). Dropping the fence resulted in re-connecting the two reserve and letting all wild animals roam freely between borders. Several elephants that were on the brink of being shot (as a result of the current draught) were able to survive under these circumstances.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <!-- Slick --></body>
